Galatians 6:2

Name: April Frazier

Location: Elgin, SC

Type of Business:
501(c)(3) Nonprofit Organization

What does your business do?
Our organization provides resources such as toiletries, personal hygiene, inclement weather items, food and clothing to the homeless communities throughout the midlands of SC. We go out into the communities and provide spiritual motivation and encouragement to those experiencing hardship. We also deliver these items to homeless shelters and other agencies dedicated to helping the homeless.

When and why did you start the biz?
God laid Galatians 6:2 on my heart as the mission I would accomplish once I retired from the military. I retired in November 2017, and for a year I researched, prepared and prayed because I was afraid this mission was to big for me. Finally, in January 2019 I experienced a few encounters which I interpreted as God saying enough is enough your obedience is required. After the 4th sign the next day I launched Galatians 6:2.

How Many People are in your Company?

Where's your office?
Presently, my office is a guest bedroom in my home. God has been so gracious in touching the hearts of others that the donations have outgrown the space. I can't distribute them fast enough.

What's the toughest part of running your biz?
As with most new ventures, finances are the toughest part. I work full time to earn the money I use to fund Galatians 6:2. I work a full day and do nonprofit in the evenings and weekends. I find it difficult to ask people for money so I mostly ask for specific items of need, despite the fact the money is also needed for transportation, storage, and the supplies needed to package and distribute the donations received.

What's the most fun part?
"Carry each other's burdens and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ" that is what Galatians 6:2 says. There is nothing more fulfilling than to help another person. I'm at my happiest when I'm doing good and fighting for others.

Anything you would have done differently?
I can't say that there is. I truly believe that God has a plan for our lives. He has conditioned me from a young age to be an advocate for others. I trust in him to give me the guidance and make provisions.

What's next on the horizon for your biz?
Ultimately, I intend to have transition centers and drop in centers for homeless women and children throughout the south. I want to provide them with resources, education and care. I want to

What advice do you have for others?
My advice to others would be educate yourself, accept help from those that are strong in areas where you are weak. Don't be afraid to follow your dreams and don't be afraid to ask for help. Put your faith in God and always strive to do what is right.

How do you use Idea Cafe to help your biz?
My expectations of Idea Cafe is to provide me with a network of experienced business owners and managers. I hope to find people willing to provide mentor ship and maybe even partnership to improve our society and foster positive growth. I especially hope to find financial support and ideas of efficient ways to accomplish the mission that God has called me to perform.

School (where, still in school, degree)?
Fayetteville Technical College (AS) Criminal Justice DeVry (BS) Business Management

Prior jobs or business?
24 years of service in the US Army as a Military Police; SC Attorney General Office as a Veteran Outreach Program Coordinator; DOD Civilian Inspector General and Co-Founder of GD Techwork

Favorite Food?
Most Asian Cuisine

What are your pets' names?
No pets I have dander allergies

Is there any one person or event in your life that led you to go into business for yourself?
As I previously mentioned I have a long history of victim advocacy and taking care of and looking out for the less fortunate. I knew that I would ultimately doing something in that field as my own boss. But it was God that decided it would be Galatians 6:2

Anyone you publicly want to thank?
I would like to say thank you to my parents Blanche Surles and MSG(Ret) Roderick Williams. My parents always encouraged us to do what is right, to trust in God and to always put your best foot forward. Had it not been for their influence I most certainly would not be the woman that I am today.
