Top 5 Things to Worry About When Running Big Events
When done correctly, big events can really provide a boost for your business. They can be used as a powerful marketing tool, helping you to attract new customers and clients. Or, they can help you to network with other industry professionals. However, while they do offer many potential benefits, there’s also a lot of challenges involved with hosting a big event. In fact, it can be pretty darn stressful trying to pull it all together! Here, we’ll look at the top 5 things to worry about when running big events. 1. Event space Perhaps one of the leading worries that comes with hosting a big event, is whether you’ll have enough space. The logical thing to do is to host an outdoor event and book a large venue such as a park, golf club or even the grounds of a stately home. However, not only can this prove really expensive, but you’ll also have to worry about the weather. A good solution could be to hire a temporary building. These provide plenty of weather-protected space, and they can prove more affordable than hiring out a large venue. 2. Parking As you’ll be anticipating a large turnout to your event, you’re going to need to make sure there’s adequate levels of parking. If there isn’t, you’ll need to let guests know in advance, ideally providing them with alternative ways to get to the event, along with any nearby parking facilities. 3. Facilities As well as parking, other facilities you’ll absolutely need are toilets. You might want to consider hiring portable toilets, but if you do make sure there’s someone there to clean them. The last thing you need is for blocked toilets and unpleasant smells ruining your event. 4. Staffing To accommodate for the sheer number of attendees, you’re going to need to have adequate staffing. This includes catering staff, car parking staff and customer service staff. You need to make sure that whatever people need, there’s a member of staff readily available to help. 5. Queue management Finally, queue management can be a real problem with large events. If you’re working on a ticket system, you’re going to need to ensure you have adequate queue lanes, along with plenty of staff to process admissions quickly. These are the top 5 things to worry about when running a big event. Provided you plan well ahead and follow the advice above, you should be able to avoid these issues and ensure your event is memorable for all of the right reasons.
