"How to start a disposable diaper delivery service?"
Posted by Dee on 17:43:27 3/02/2002
I'm a 27 year old wife and mother of 1 and want to start my own delivery service for disposable diapers. I have bought diapers by the bulk from a store in Atlanta, Georgia and decided I could probably do this from home (especially since I have the space to store the diapers). I tried to talk to the owner and see how they got started but the information was very limited. I do know the diapers are purchases outside the United States. My husband thinks this idea is ridiculous and not at all profitable, but I beg to differ. Many parents (esp mothers) are looking for convenience, quality and bargains and I think my idea could be the answer.

Tell your husband not to laugh. I read in a Pizza Trade magazine where a Mom & Pop pizza shop added pamper delivery to thier lineup. Their business almost doubled, dinner and diapers all at once! Weird concept? maybe, but it worked.

You asked how to start a diaper delivery service. I am in the process of starting one myself and have much the same question. To start with: it can be EXTREMELY lucritive. I plan to insert a flyer in the info. given to new mothers at the local hospitals (I just had a baby and this seemed like a great way to get the word out) if they'll let me and the price is right. I haven't checked on it yet. I'm also going to distribute flyers to the upper-class folk around here. Along with diapers I'll deliver other baby products and even deliver incontinence products to the elderly, etc. I'm just in the planning stages so can't offer much advice, but I'm starting with a book called "How To Start and Operate an Errand Service" by Rob Spina. I purchased this on Amazon.com for 29.95. I think it's worth it. If you plan on going the route of the delivery service, I'd love to have a pen pal to compare notes with: I'm a great researcher and would be interested in sharing what I find with you. Contact me directly at ndpadowell@mybluelight.com.

I was reading the postings and I too am very interested in this type of business, but would like information about it before I would venture into it. Any information or where to locate information would be very helpful.

Thanks

5. "Maybe a website?"
Posted by Blaine Hilton on 19:24:24 10/02/2002
I was reading your posts and thinking that it seems like you people are doing this, or going to start this all over the country. I am a website designer and I thought I would ask if you would be interested in having me create a website for you. That in inself is only a plug for my business but then I thought that maybe not only would you guys be interested in that but how but a single website that you all can use to promote each other, like a national network.

If your interested please contact me. I am currently in the process of beefing up my portfolio and have very cheap rates. (maybe even free)

8. "Also interested"
Posted by Kristine on 18:18:54 12/17/2002
My husband and I are expecting our first child in
August and I have been racking my brain trying to find
work that I could do at home to stay with the baby. Over
dinner tonight, my husband said, "Wouldn't a diaper
service be a great thing?" Both our parents used a
diaper service for us. We got into quite a discussion
and we feel it would be a lucrative business (especially
since there aren't any services of this type in our area).
I am going to start researching this ASAP in order to
determine start up costs. Whatever ideas/suggestions
anybody has would be great. Good Luck to all of you
trying to start a service of your own.

Kristine

9. "Franchise It"
Posted by Ryan on 04:16:41 12/26/2002
I was reading the posts here about the diaper delivery service and it struck me that at least 5 people are here trying to start the same thing.

Imagine comining your forces and ideas on how it could, should work and develop a business system and franchise it.

Just a thought... I'm living in Australia, so I wont be competing with you.. but it may just open up a market for me here.

Cheers,
Ryan

Hey! Are there any updates or anyone else out there who has started their own Diaper delivery service? Is it successful...do you recommend it to others and do you service mainly families or some daycare centers, too? I am in the research stages of a disposable diaper delivery service and I am pretty excited about it.

I am also interested and am also in the beginning stage of planning. I see that Neighborhood Diaper Delivery is offering opportunities. Has anyone else been successful?

I am also interested in starting a diaper delivery service. I am from Canada and will soon be moving to an isolated area. I think it would be great there as diapers are very expensive. Has anybody else gotten started?? I welcome suggestions
