I want to launch a website, and I would like to know how to find sponsors, so I can post their banners on it, and get money through the refferal service. What are the rates? Is it worth it?

Hello Adam,
What kind of site do you plan to launch? What kind of advertisers do you want to draw? Several of my customers run banner ad campaigns and I'm always on the lookout for good places to run them.

Meredith

I am thinking of launching a site, that will allow people download Java Applets, Servlets, Javascript and javabeans programs for free. It will also have message board. Plus if people need custom made programs for their business, I could consult with them and maybe help them out.

Hi Meredith,

Please take a look at www.mailexpire.com and see if it fits in with your clients' images. If you're interested, please drop me a line, and we can discuss traffic, payment models etc.

I'm happy to do the programming required for banner rotation etc.

Thanks,

Jack

Meredith,
Your customers may be interested in running a banner on a site with a good cause. We are a non-profit organization, so all profits go towards Charity, and will be tax deductible. Viewers pay more attention to the banners because they are choosing which charity the money goes towards.

3. "Web site advertising"
Posted by Jack Teems on 07:36:21 3/26/2000
You know, Adam, I'm not convinced of the value of web advertising and apparently a lot of potential sponsors out there feel the same. I have no problem in selling out each issue of my ezine, but one attempt at Website advertising, even though my site now is approaching 400,000 hits, just didn't get off the ground. I suppose to put another slant on this, when's the last time YOU clicked on a banner when you're searching for a specific site or subject?

Agreed. I think baners will continue to fade as an advertising model, as the click-thru rates on banners are astoundingly low and continue to fall.

But I am mostly writing to encourage you to sign yourself up as an agent for various programs, and advertise on your site for YOUR OWN products.

There is an enormous advantage to this. You can track your traffic--and I would ask them to answer a few survey questions while they wait for their download--then you will know your target market well, and can tailor your ads and programs you are selling to match their buying needs.

Also, you can test and retest and retest these ads until you've got a series of ads up that are moneymakers--and you can do this with TEXT links, integrated into your site, which works much better than banner ads these days.

Hope this is helpful. It is the formula that recently turned one of my sites into a real money-maker.

8. "Getting more hits"
Posted by Robert T. Koveleskie on 05:34:53 5/16/2000
I am not getting near 400K hits on my site. And I work my site min 12 hours a day. Yes, my income is increasing, but my hits are not what they should be. Perhaps I need to advertise off line.

Some of my competitors boast 10,00 hits a day! I can't imagine that being true.

My site is http://www.venturedirectory.com and any advice is appreciated.
