I live in a small town of 8000 in Texas. We are the largest town in a 60 mile radius. We have wonderful kids in our area, but nothing for them to do except the local theatre and sit on the town square until 1 or 2 in the morning. I teach at the local high school so I see the results of this every day. Our town has a high juv. crime rate and a rapidly growing drug problem. I want to open a "club" like place for our kids to hangout. I hope to have a few mini-clubs inside to attract different groups of kids. ex. karaoke "club", western"club", etc. But I really need a name I would love to have some help in this area.

Of course in fine print with advertisement etc. will be the disclosure of always having responsible adults on the premises as management and/or chaparoning for legal and safety reasons. May need to be sure you also have the statement of not responsible for individual activities of persons outside of the club - no loitering outside of premises allowed (From Experience Seen and Been Around - Have had activities of teens in some places that did unacceptable activities behind buildings in cars, etc. Parents blame club, etc. for their child's activities when they leave, like you can control a child they cannot control) - "Have a check in and check out booth (age specific for individual - may even make it membership only with guest invited with member, etc.) for the assurance of parents but the recordkeeping for you" - Have several pay phones available for calls to be made for transportaion needs etc. so business phone is not tied up. In our area would suggest a security guard that is always on the grounds inside an out - maybe even security cameras inside and out and let notices be posted -
Make sure you have specific rules and at signup membership time - have a signed agreement of understanding. sounds like a lot, but even teens want rules and want to fell safe.
For your personel - decide on intercom code calls for certain emergencies - including lock down (of doors for specific reasons, etc. Have lockers (paid like at skating rinks) available for personal needs to be locked up without worrying about misplacement or someone stealing them.

Every so often have open house fopr parents so they feel better about the whole idea - Have special programs offered just to teens during scheduled times as special offers for them - sometimes free or at a minimal cost - you may even be able to get financial help form local churches and others interested in helping the teens
