"Permission?"

I have an idea that involves putting businesses' information online such as happy hour times, etc. My question is: Do I need any type of permission from the businesses to do this or am I free to do so without any legal ramifications? Thanks.

Legally, probably not. You're using publicly available information. That being said, you'll probably make more money (through potential advertising revenue) by asking the businesses if you can include them in your directory.

Also, you need to make sure that your site disclaims any information provided by the other businesses and mention that their trade names, trademarks and service marks are the sole property of the business you're mentioning.

Hope that helps.
