Are you sure you don't mean licensed? If a company is licensed to do business/operate in another country but not in the U.S. they must get licensed in the U.S. to be able to operated and/ or do business in the U.S. Copyrighting is something different from licencing. Copyrighting protects ownership of something such as works ie. poems, songs or music. If you need more info. call the U.S. Trade mark Office at 1-800-786-9199 or visit their website at www.uspto.gov They should be able to answer all your questions. Good luck.

What exactly are you trying to do? Copy the name or business model? You certainly shouldn't try to copy the name. But you can "copy" the business model. You can build your own similar business. Similar. Not exact. That's what competition is all about.

Definitely don't copy the name, see the case where the World Wildlife Foundation (WWF) sued a multi million dollar company in World Wrestling Federation (WWF)and finally Wrestling had to switch to WWE.
