Sparkly Jewels Boutique

What does your business do?
I am the sole owner and only worker for Sparkly Jewels Boutique. I started this company selling jewelry, through home parties and on Facebook. I created "Blingo Parties" where we played bingo to win jewelry through home parties. At Christmas I worked for a friend's jewelry boutique, and was inspired to sell scarves. That led to adding hats to what we carried. I must note that most of the sales of the scarves and hats has been through facebook!
Being a "Jack of All Trades" that I am, I also started wardrobe consulting (telling women what to wear for their body shape). This naturally led to, "Hey, Rachael! Where can I find ______". And that has led me to being a full fledged women's clothing boutique.

How would you use the grant money?
It is really my desire to expand my company from what it is currently to a Fashion Truck. I really feel this is the future of retail, and NOW is the time to be be joining in. In Colorado, there are presently 2 fashion trucks, 1 other retail truck (they sell dry goods), and one outside of the Metro Denver area that is a used clothing store.

These trucks have "popped up" in other large areas over the past few years, but the few trucks offers a wonderful opportunity to be a part of the fashion industry in Colorado. I believe that being one of the founding Fashion Trucks in an area is a HUGE badge of honor. I am working on being the first truck in Westminster, which is the 7th largest city in Colorado. The first trucks have been WELL received in Denver, and in the fashion industry, that traditional brick and mortar stores can only hope to achieve.

The largest advantage to these types of stores is a boutique is able to go to where the customer is, rather than the customer finding the store; whether it be through private shopping events, or philanthro-fashion (giving a portion of sales to a charity by being at their event), or meeting up with food trucks and other fashion trucks for special events.

In short, I would use $1000 to put toward the purchase of a reliable box truck to help me achieve this goal and dream. I realize that a $1000 truck would be worthless, but it will certainly help in getting me closer to purchasing a truck.

What would the grant enable you to do that you can't now?
A truck would allow me to provide a place to easily showcase my merchandise and allow my customers to try on clothes in a fun and unique environment.

If Idea Cafe's Grant helps your biz reach greater success, how will you "pay it forward" to help others in some way?
I currently donate items and gift certificates to organizations to help them with their fundraising events. I will certainly continue this in the future! Having a truck would allow me to do this further, with less set up and tear down.
