i live in a small town with a bar & cafe that is getting
ready to close. the town needs a new one in a new location
that i have found. My wife and I are wanting to start sometime
next year. We need to know where to start looking for grants
and suplies.
Hi, It's extremely unlikely that you could get a grant to fund a bar, so don't waste your time looking for one. (If you'd like more info on Grants for Small Businesses and why we don't think your venture would qualify for the types of enterprises that receive grants, check out Idea Cafe's Grant Center - just click over to it from the nav bar on your left.)
While you're there, look through our Financing Your Business section for more ideas on how to raise money.
But ultimately, the money will be generated by your business. How much can you find out from the current bar/cafe that is closing? Why are they closing? Maybe you can take the owner to lunch and ask them about their revenues... and maybe you can purchase their equipment... the owner might be happy for you to take it off his/her hands and might let you pay over time.
Best of luck!
