I plan on attending trade shows to get exposure for my clothing line. If someone places an order with me how long do I have to supply the merchandise? I am assuming there is an industry standard, does anyone know about this?

Rebecca, I'm not overly versed in the clothing business but I'm quite sure they buy 2 seasons ahead. They're buying fall during spring, and winter in the summer. I would suspect that 90-days would be what they'd expect. That means they place the order in March and get it in to sell in the stores a few months before the actual season begins.
You can probably check with the industry trade association to find out the specifics.

Thanks! Will look into the trade association. One problem I am finding though is that many sites/associations charge you for membership before you can get info. I could just be looking in the wrong places though.

Hello,
If you have an item they want very soon, you must fill the order as quick as possible. A buyer is looking at the items as how much money they can bring in. So the sooner you get it to them the better. Now on the other hand, if the buyer sees something they like but is seasonal. What they would then do is, place the order with you and give you a ship date. Usually a 15 day grace period from the time the order should ship til it should be received. If it happens to fall outside of that scheduled time frame it give them the option of having that order cancelled.
