"80% Successful Entrepreneur Needs HELP!!!"

I am guessing that a lot of you know what an 80% successful entrepreneur makes financially speaking. A lot of debt...

Here is my thing.

I have a couple of very good ideas business wise that I can always get about 80% there and I can?t get over the endline. The couple of ideas I have, have the attention of some VERY successful people, but I somehow need to move them forward a little farther and that is where I keep getting stuck.

How do I get someone really good to come onboard with me and help me? (I think that is the one thing I am missing. I need one good person with some real proven background to come on board as I think more than a consultant, maybe as a percentage owner of the business) I can?t understand what would motivate someone to get onboard with a new business venture, or more importantly what would keep them from getting onboard.

I know if I could get onboard with someone during the exciting startup period of a business, help guide them initially while they executed the work and then never really have to work on the business again, yet get checks, that would certainly interest me.

So how would I get someone really good to come onboard and help me, that is the one question that I need to answer?

Brian,

In my early days I found it difficult to locate people that might want to get involved in my start-up projects. I do think its a great idea to find some help, someone who makes up for any weaknesses you may have.

My advise is to go where like minded individuals gather. Have you heard of Meetup.com? If not check it out. Look for any Entrepreneur meetups in your local area. If you can't find one then start one for your city. You'll then be in contact with all sorts of Entrepreneurs who might be able to help you, or might know someone that might be interested.

Hope this info helps a little.

Take care.

Richard

Im going to kind of echo some advise that was given regarding finding like minded people (Meetup.com by the way is actually a pretty good source) . I would say go a few steps further: CLEARLY identify who you would like as a partner. What type of experience, talents, connections and financial ability do you want them to have? What do you have to offer such a person that would make them say " this is a deal worth getting involved with"? What type of financial arrangement would really be appealling to them (just sharing profits isn't a real enticement because anyone can offer to share profits on a business idea that hasn't generated a cent yet....what type of security arrangement would make the person risk thier time with your venture?

When you can answer these questions, then you can narrow down the places where these suitable partners can be connected with.

Best of luck with that and if you need any business development ideas. feel free to directly contact me.

Hi! I read your dilemma with great interest. However, I have a few questions--what is your business idea? Also, before you sign away a percentage of your idea to someone else, which automatically gives them a say in what you do with your business, go talk to a business advisor. The Small Business Association is in the phone book, and they have people in your area who will help you for free! They will get your idea more focused, and they will point you in the right direction. Alot of free advice is out there (like in here. . .), and I would definitely seek that out first. Never sell away your control, unless you are expanding your business in a big way and need investors, which is what it sounds like you are seeking. Talk to an advisor first, and they will help you clarify what exactly it is you are looking for. After you talk to them, get a plan on paper, and put your ducks in a row, you may find that you are the expert, and you just need an assistant. Don't sell shares or any other interest in your business away just yet---you will be giving away much more than shares, you will be selling control over your dream, and it doesn't sound like you are ready to do that.
