To find an investor/partner, what are your recommendations?

I have just purchased an ad in the local paper. It will be interesting, at the very least, on who makes the call.
Any ideas on cold-calling, (in person), businesses which may complement my weight loss start-up? Such as gyms, health food stores and Hair salons? Any other ideas?
I have gone to a couple of angel investor sites, but as a start-up with no partners, it doesn't look like a good fit.
