I am in the process of starting a small home-based business, and I won't need a LOT of money to start - no more than $1000.
I think the only two options I have are:
1. Get a private bank loan 2. Use a credit card offer than I received, and ask for the credit limit to be $1000 so that I'm not tempted to go over that amount, then pay it off as quickly as possible.
I'm very new to this, so I need some advice. Which way is the best?

I don't know of any business that only needs $1k to start. What I suggest is that you contact your local SBA office and ask for a free meeting. Learn all you can about business and read the book the Emyth Revisited.
Do things so that you don't become another business statistic.
