"Contrator / Homeowner Refferal Business"

I have been in the construction industry for over 15 years and see a need for a service that helps homeowners before they hire contractors to do work for them. This service would provide information about the contractor and also about how to protect themselves from fraud or unscrupulous contractors. Any ideas or comments would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Scott Cline

There is a site that does this, but there's ALWAYS room for competition!
www.angieslist.com

Personally, I wouldn't have known what an "Angie's List" was except I caught one of their TV commercials. But I'd bet if you built a keyword focused website with a better title or domain name, you could probably top them in time.

Maybe you could start a local "Scott's List" and build out from there?? You could have an extremely profitable website even if you just limited it to within your own state at first. Start small, earn some money and reinvest to expand. Just a suggestion.

For instance, anyone who's in the wedding industry knows about "The Knot" (www.theknot.com) but some of my website pages are starting to beat them in the top 10 on Google after a year a half. That makes me proud considering I'm only one person and they're a major wedding corporation with their name on just about everything.
