"Southern Colorado IT Networking Business"

I am new to the site and was wondering if anyone has started their own IT networking business? I am looking to target small to medium size businesses. I am going to offer services in network design, computer repair, software and hardware configuration, Server maintenance and implementation and data back up. I would like to get my business plan going and I am going to target it toward angel investors and private party investors. In the city I live there is only one other company going to offer all the service I am looking to offer and one company who tries to sell and consult but contract out the work to private party contractors. I am hoping in this small city and poor economy I have a chance. If anyone can offer advice or lead me in the right direction I would appreciate the assistance.

Eager to get my business concept up and running.
Robert

A friend of mine started a similar business about 5 years ago and built his business by cold-calling businesses and talking computers/networking with them.

Think strategically when considering starting your own IT networking business. You seem to know who your competition is and what their strengths and weaknesses are. Figure out what it is these companies lack with regards to services and focus on filling these areas first. Once you develop a name and reputation, you can start picking away at your competitor's services.

Can you partner up with companies that offer web design services, but don't do any maintenance work? How about network wiring companies? These seem like good places to look for referrals. Computer repair on a business level is an "emergency" type of service. Are you willing to offer a 24-hour service to get businesses back up and running?

There will always be price pressure, don't discount your service to "get in the door". Companies will pay a fair price if they find value to your service. Keep the technical jargon down to a minimum and sell yourself and your knowledge. As far as investors are concerned, it might be difficult to get funding. You are talking about a service business without a lot of overhead.

Good luck with your endeavors,

It sounds like you've already done a lot of research on your competitors which is great. One way to get your new company the coverage it deserves is through a press release to local media outlets. This will also allow future clients to get acquainted with you and what you offer.

Check out MyPRGuide. This company will take well-written press releases and put them directly into the hands of those you need your company?s latest news to reach!

It?s a really simple process. All you do is go to www.myprguide.com and fill out a form to tell them about the news you?d like to announce and select the distribution package you want.

A team of professional practitioners will write your press release according to your standards. They will be in touch with you within 5 business days to go over any edits you may have, just to make sure you?re completely satisfied.

After your approval, they distribute it and put it in the hands of those you need to reach!

What?s even better?.they just lowered their prices, so writing and distributing ranges from $99 to $199 depending on your distribution choice.

And that?s not all!!! Throughout the month of June, My PR Guide is giving away two free press releases each week! One will be to a non-profit and the other will be to any type of business. You can find all the information at http://www.myprguide.com/promo.html. What could it hurt to try to win a free press release!?

I promise you won?t be disappointed with the results. Check out the site and follow them on Twitter at http://twitter.com/myprguide and Facebook!

If you have any questions at all about this or any PR questions, just reply back.
