"Starting online business selling informational research to students"
I'd like to start a business geared for graduating students trying to find what job would suit them the best. I plan on interviewing employees in various careers and then providing this information on the website, as well as writing various related articles. I'm not sure how to start such a business and how to get paid for providing a service. Should it be subscription based? I think more students would use it if it were free, but then not sure how to make any money. Please advise. Thank you.

While its a great idea, there are many other sites already offering something similar, so what can you offer that is different? Otherwise you will find it difficult to compete.

I was thinking of offering first hand information. I would tailor it to science as this is my specialty. I was thinking of interviewing employees in various fields- reporting on what the jobs entail, how they got there, advice they have for recent grads. I would focus on alternative jobs- the ones that many students are becoming interested in, but that are not focused on by career offices. Is this different enough? I just graduated last May with a science degree, but am looking to find a job that doesn't entail scientific research. I'm finding that yes there is some info out there, but nothing that tailors to just alternative careers.
What if I set it up as a blog? Can you get paid for a blog? or is it better to set up a website? Is there a way I can set up something as a test to see if there are any bites before going all the way?
