"Thumbs Up or Down?"

I was thinking of starting an online candy store. Do you think there would be a market for this? I was thinking of candy such as jelly beans, red hots, gummy bears, etc.

There could be. I would research first how many other online candy stores are out there. The one disadvantage to an online candy store that I can see is that people like to be able to taste candy before they buy it and that of course is not possible when selling online.

I could give this same answer to ANY BUSINESS you wanted to do online. Make it a lot less about your product and a lot more about you.
You could do video and be on camera... so people are not buying the candy as much as they are buying your entertainment.

Do you have a supplier for your candy? Doesn't matter- buy it at the local store, repackage it and resell it. But make the packaging EXTRA cool.

I second what BizResearcher said - how do you differentiate yourself from all the other stores selling candy? Will you be making yours yourself? I don't necessarily think this is a bad idea - everyone loves candy! - but how do you make yourself stand out from the crowd?

Also, this is a business where you're going to have to move a lot of volume just because things are low priced and you'll need to sell a lot to make a decent profit. This is something you'll need to consider when you consider what can set you apart.

Best of luck!

It might be good to find a target niche. Something like marketing to schools around the country. I know that my son's school has "Snack Shack" every Friday where they can bring $1 and buy candy on Fridays at recess. If you could sell candy for less to these schools, there may be room to make a profit for you.

Make sure to have a marketable name and web-site/domain.

Meanwhile you may find this interesting: www.myhomeoffice.ws. A simple way to make extra money globally right from your computer. I've made money every month for 2 years now.

Have fun and good luck!

Have a look at this website. There are a few out there similar to the one below. Perhaps you could do candy bouquets, or find a twist on presenting your candy?
