"Internet cafe" Thu Nov-06-08 04:44 AM by david_NY79
Hello all, like most of us, I am looking for a good idea. I was wondering if anyone has or has been thinking about starting an "Internet Cafe"? I love the internet and I love cafe's, so why not combine the two? I know that they are out there, I'm just not sure how successful they are and if there is a need for them. If anyone can give me some insight as to what it takes to start one? Is it profitable? How much of an investment is it? etc.
An internet cafe is a cafe where people can rent the use of a computer while they have coffee or food. Think Starbucks, with it's own computer terminals.

Define how necessary the cafe will be. With Starbucks' stores all over the world with free wireless internet access, this, I would think might be your competition.
I assume you will have PC and/or Mac terminals accessible as well... You'll want to consider how you're going to protect them from accidental spillage. With Starbucks, if someone spills coffee on their laptop, it's THEIR laptop, Starbucks doesn't care.
Your business plan will help you figure out who the competition is and in which area you will find the most opportunity.
From where I sit, your location is going to be your biggest business maker or breaker.
