Neato idea!
Tons and Tons of foreclosures here in Detroit...my newspaper published a an insert in the sunday paper of all the foreclosures...give you a hint, it was bigger than the whole paper. We all couldn't believe it, anyways , i'd look to see if there is any commonality between all the listings...i'd ask my local realtor who to contact at the bank, since they always have financing contacts at the bank. That would be easier than cold callin' a bank...forgetabouit. Could go into a bank posing as a customer to get a loan and ask by the sly, who cleans all the trashed houses. Or startup a conversation at mollymaid on the phone who's been cleaning all the trashed houses....I've heard now that banks are telling the eviction sheriffs to give 600bucks to the eviction tenants to not trash the house.
This is a great idea...what city are you located in?

Good ol' Houston!!
There is just SOOOO many foreclosures now and probably a lot of cleaning businesses as well but i think way more foreclosures!!
I know I need to invest in a trailer to haul things away, etc.
I think there's definitely money to be made out there in that business and I'm looking for a mentor in my area.
I emailed a guy that I looked up and read his story so I pray he responds to me..
please pray for me

Martha... you might want to find someone who is already in the "hauling away" business and contract with them to haul anything that needs hauling. Unless that is what you meant by cleaning the homes. But, if you are wanting to do mainly cleaning of the insides, let someone else haul things away and you worry about the cleaning.
You will have to pay them to haul away, but if you know their prices, you can build that in... plus a little for you too.
Shoot, while you are at it... get a couple of cleaning crews together and have them clean the houses while you coordinate things.
You said that you are outgoing... well, you go and get the jobs and coordinate the hauling and cleaning. That is extremely important work that many people can't do well.
OK, I am getting carried away.
Good luck in whatever you do!

If you're looking for people to do work for you locally, you may want to check out craigslist.com. You could hire people to haul stuff for you who have trucks and are just looking for extra work - would be cheaper

Very good idea. I don't know much about the legalities of foreclosure but the only thing I would definitely recommend is to make sure you have insurance to protect yourself, employees and business. Good luck with this business!
