"I need feedback"

I am currently in the process of starting a photography business. We have created a business plan and decided that we are going to do a little of everything... kids, babies, buildings, group, some creative but will specialize in boudior or glamor photography. My question is what would really sale this. I personally would love to have a photo session, have my hair and makeup professionally done, and take sexy pics of myself. I think it would be really popular and we don't have anything like this where I live. But what would be a good sales point. Should we offer to do parties for groups? Also we really need a name... right now we are calling our busimess Ahemi photography but i don't think this is good. Help! any comments or ideas welcomed...please.

Most photo houses have a number of different brochures and packages to show the types of shots they can take. However, one thing to think about is what niche your company will be "owning". You say you don't have anything like this where you live...well, why should a client visit you instead of some cut-rate place in back of Sears? The answer to this might be obvious, but it's something to keep in mind. The thing that's going to sell you is the quality and distinction of your work compared to other local businesses. If you see the need there already then make meeting that need the number one priority.

That having been said, I'm drawing a blank on names...

I agree that you need to change your name, but first you need to find your niche as already stanted and that might help you fuel the name for yourself. I have worked with photographers since I have been 18 (so it's been awhile) and they all had their "main" thing then spun off from their. For instance in Ca I worked all over our studio, from infront of, behind, running the office at different years that I was there, but their main thing was the Highschools senior picutures. We made more money shooting Proms in one night than you would imagine. We would also do sensual pix "after hours" and that went well too, but not for the main income.
The photograper now in Ok is mainly a Sport team pix photographer, but he still does weddings and family pix.
So I guess that I am saying find what you like, determine if that will bring in the most income or does it need to be a "side" thing and focus on something else. If you have any other questions ask away I will help as much as I can. DO you have a good lab yet cause my photographer uses one I really like.

As a newly retired Master Photographer, I would not mind offering my 33 years of experience. I made a very good living photographing babies and families and whatever else (in the beginning) that came my way.,
Today, it is much harder to expect good photography to win a client. You have to sell the "sizzle: AND yourself. My recommendation is that you join your state association of professional photographers and join PPA (Professional Photographers of America). Go to http://www.PPA.com and look for your state. There are many seminars, books, videos and live human beings to help you get started.
Good luck!!

Hello!
I'm no photography expert but I like having someone especially a photographer taking pictures of me. Ahemi isn't very catchy at all.. Change it! hehe.. I think you should start with your family and friends, convince them to have a photo taken from your studio, then afterwards let them evaluate your photography. If it's nice and loved it, then that will be your marketing, Word of Mouth, then give promos, discounts when there are special occasions, like Prom, Graduation, Christmas, a family treat..

Goodluck! I totally support you!!
