"Recently moved in a new Country (Australia)"

Hi Everyone,

It took weeks before I had the courage to sign up and ask you guys a question. I am a successful businesswoman in my local city(davao Phils.) but left all that as I got married and moved in to australia. My question is I like to start a home based business however I have no idea what sort would click in this place. Everyone seems very private and only goes to the store for grocery and clothes shopping. Also, there are little information about how I can start considering I am new in the place.
Do you have any suggestion on what I can do at home?
Another thing, I went for a vacation to my country and bought back with me to Aust. some clothes, I tried to market them but no one seems to give me the chance to be their supplier as they already have a contact. I was sort of into thinkin that I look foreign that they are not comfy with me.
Just desperate for a moment.
kind regards.
diosa

If you are prepared to import, Diosa, why not simply open your own boutique?

You can start by doing what are known as "trunk party sales" book appointments with groups of ladies, have mini fashion shows, take orders. The hostess who throws the parties gets a percentage of the sales as her initiative to throw the party.

They are quite popular and effective here in North America.

What you can do is compare Australia to the U.S
You say we seem private & all we seem to do is shop. That
tells me that you do have ideas. What products, or services do
you have in Australia we might be able to benefit from? What
activities do you guys engage in there for fun other than
shopping? The nice thing
about America is that we are open to new ideas as far as
business is
concerned. One thing to know is that we love to be pampered,
and anything that makes life easier will be a success. I heard
the Starbucks Coffee idea was taken from Italy....or some
place like that. The people that came up with the baby pouch
that you strap on
got the idea from Africa. The African women carry their
children like that. So, there are many clever ideas to be
taken from other countries. As for your clothing? sell it
online. If its beach wear, or tribal art designs, people will
buy.....start online.
