I am wanting to start a children's clothing business. It would be a direct sale either by appointment or in a home party atmosphere.
I am searching for ANY suggestions on the best way to stock inventory and hold shows.
One idea I had was to bring a special outfit for every child at the show and hold a fashion show, take pictures, and give each mother a framed photo of her child.
Then all the mothers there would fill out a personal shopping list that would include details such as childs size, fav color, fav brand, etc. Then each mother would tell me how much they want to spend on their clothes. I would set a percentage discount like 30 or 40% off retail value, so for example if someone wanted to spend 100$ on favorite brandnames clothes for their daughter, I would put together a package of clothes and accessories that would have a retail value of 150$.
There would have to be an established time between ordering and recieving items.
Also, I would be choosing outfits myself based on a detailed list of each customer's needs and preferences, but customer's would not actually be picking individual outfits. Something like this would work best at first as far as not having to have as much inventory on hand.
Also how do I charge for the shows and costs upfront (the outfit, picture and frame). Would there be a fee to attend?
What do you like and/or dislike about this idea? Do you have another idea as far as hosting shows? Questions, comments, ANYTHING I would so appreciate
