I think I have a good website idea that should produce alot of hits, but I am really confused on how you make money on a free based website, like google, myspace, ect. Can someone tell me alittle bit more about this, or direct me on a website that could give me more insight on this.

The site such as google, yahoo and them all make money because of advertising. If you look on any non personal websites, there are advertisements throughout the page... its a form of marketing. Hence why google makes so much money.. they are popular and is visited quite frequently so people will pay to have their products or services advertised.
