I was hoping you could help me with an inventory question. I plan to start a gift basket business and am wondering how I can gather inventory to use on my website? I?ve been getting Christmas items, Valentine?s Day items, etc., but I worry that by the time that I actually use these items to put on the website and in baskets to sell, they aren?t going to be available anymore or would have a different look. My goal is to open my business by the end of the year. Would this annoy my customers if the items aren?t identical to the ones they see on the website?

If you don?t think this is acceptable in the gift basket business world, how do I get inventory well in advance of the holiday, and how do I know if that item is going to be around several months later when that holiday actually approaches?

Just mention that the items shown in the pictures are just representations of the items offered and that the items offered will be similar to those shown. They will have to understand that products change. Then, maybe when you get new items in... you can update your pictures. But, state that they are just representations and that you will use the best that you can get for the price of the basket they buy.
