"Want to start a computer repair business..."

Hi,
I'm 25 and live in Tampa, FL. I want to start my own computer repair business. I have wanted to do this for a while and been looking for information. A neighbor told me all I need is to INC a business name, pay the fee and submit the paperwork online. He said the site is sunbiz.org I have looked for information there and where to submit the paperwork and have had no luck. I would like to get some assistance in what type or paperwork needs to be submitted and where if possible. At the moment my goal is to put an ad on the paper and repair computers at their home or at my home. Doing hardware repair, software repair, printers, and also basic home network setup; wireless networks and other computer repairs. I'm going to school for computers, work doing help desk support and have been fixing computer for over 8 years. I'm also going to get certifications. Down the road would like my business to get contracts from local doctor offices or local businesses and do there IT support for the business.
Any available information will be appreciated.
Thanks for your assistance.
Edsel

Edsel,

Go to this website and download their free business start up blueprint -- it covers just about every requirement needed for a new business: http://www.innoventum.com

I found their video series on YouTube too. The videos give a broad understanding of what you'll need for your business, chapter by chapter. Here's the first chapter's video link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=42ZbdABRPkY

Good luck,
Palkia

Hi Edsel-

Your neighbor is correct - you need to go to sunbiz.org. You can fill out all the documents online. You can find the forms you need under the Forms section (there is a link with a drop down menu at the top).

Considering you are taking on liability by working on other people's stuff (i.e., they may sue you if you break something), then you should probably register as an LLC. Here is the link for the LLC forms: http://form.sunbiz.org/cor_llc.html

Good luck!
