My friend has a product idea and a great name for his company (and the product). He would like to register and trademark the name, so other people with the same idea can't use it. How would he go about doing this? Also, how much money do these things cost? I hear trademarks can be $$$.

Your best bet is to go to the uspto.gov site and start there. You can do a search to make sure no one else has the name and then regsiter as well.
