Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any ideas on who to market my services to. I operate a home-based word processing service and most of my clients have been writers. I have produced and continue to produce quality final projects at very reasonable rates, but am still having a hard time finding other clients. Who else would need my services? Any information is appreciated. Thank you.

How about large firms who made need to outsource some of their work to meet a pressing deadline?
Law firrms Advertising firms Churches (newsletters) Publishers Local Newspapers/magazines Local printing companies (or even Kinko's) Web designers (may need their clients' copy or information typed before being inserted into website)
If you price your services based on the piece, that might appeal to them.
You might even check with local temporary employment agencies, to network with them. They may have clients who request temporary staff for word processing, that they could refer to you.
Do you have a website or some way to display your projects and prices? Or do you have some type of "final project" that is one page, that you could hand out to prospects so they can immediately see the quality of your work. Make sure to include your contact information on it, or attach a business card to it.

Thank you for your reply. Yes, I do have a website but it is still hard to get people there. I do get hits on it daily but only a few clients. I really dont want to do a direct mailing because that is pretty costly and my budget is limited. Would like to do most of it online, that is the problem. Not sure where to go online. Thanks again.

Okay forget getting people to your site!
Now take a deep breath and ask yourself "If I was a lawyer or doctor and I needed someone to do my word processing where would I go"?????
I can't answer that for you, it really depends on your local area and the city culture.
I can share with you what works for my clients in LA. here it goes: They hit the pavement(walk around the city) go into law firms and doctors office, leave a card/ a simple brochure / and a chocolate bar.
IT WORKS... try it in your area and let me know (again this depends on your city, in Chicago I would tell you to give people hot chocolate)

If you were to join a Virtual Assistants group you would find detailed information of the sort that you seek. As the field becomes more and more common, you will find this to be a very useful professional association and I highly recommend looking into it.
Others who might outsource for word processing? College students are my first thought.
I hope that helps.
