IdeaCafe's 16th Small Business Grant Finalists - Epicurean Boutique
Epicurean Boutique

Garnet Gullett

Owner of Epicurean Boutique

Grosse Pointe Farms MI

What does your business do?

Epicurean Boutique is a shared kitchen concept that will allow food entrepreneurs to grow from home based businesses to acquiring their own storefront or building their brand as their dreams see fit. Epicurean Boutique will provide a platform in which food entrepreneurs can grow a customer base and develop their foot print in the food community. Additionally, Epicurean Boutique will introduce food entrepreneurs to contacts such as accountants, attorneys, realtors, etc. so they are able to continue to move forward with their brand.

How would you use the grant money?

Epicurean Boutique is moving towards purchasing a building and completing a build out of the building. This grant will be used to assist in advertising costs for Epicurean Boutique. These advertising dollars will assist in the grand opening of the building.

What would the grant enable you to do that you can't now?

At this time, we are in need of additional funds to open this shared kitchen concept by April, 2016. With these dollars, we will be able to begin advertising during our buildout phase.

If Idea Cafe's Grant helps your biz reach greater success, how will you "pay it forward" to help others in some way?

Detroit is currently on the come back. With all of the abandoned buildings, the need for new businesses, the opportunity for more restaurants and local caterers, Detroit needs sustainability. Epicurean Boutique will not only provide a space for people to open a business but also offer the resources to create a sustainable business. Epicurean Boutique will function as a bridge, connecting food-preneurs to services they need, the community with space and catering services they need as well as providing training and work opportunities for youth.
