What does your business do?
We create the next generation of lighting to change the way life is seen at night. Our custom-made products include electroluminescent apparel, devices, safety equipment, signage, home accent lighting, vehicle accessory lighting, LED lighting, and much more. We provide efficient, practical products as well as services to meet the needs of our consumers who dare brave the night. Our products will revolutionize the lighting industry, and our ideas are one of a kind. Our dream is to create superior lighting that enhances the safety, entertainment, and beauty of the night life.

How would you use the grant money?
We have already designed, tested, and developed solid apparel products that will resist normal to excessive wear and tear. We would use the grant money to buy equipment and supplies needed to create these electroluminescent lighting products for this apparel. Specifically, we are looking to purchase electroluminescent sheeting and wires, LED lighting, consumer clothing products, and tools needed to create these products efficiently on a large scale.

This money will also be used for further research and development to create electroluminescent and LED lighting accessories for vehicles such as motorcycles, cars, bicycles, and skateboards. Research and development for interior lighting accessories includes durability as well as vehicular applications that are practical as well as efficient. Research and development for exterior lighting accessories pertains to lighting of wheels, under carriages, and accent lighting of lenses, mirrors, etc.

What would the grant enable you to do that you can't now?
I have developed designs that I know will be successful in the market of electroluminescent and LED lighting because my technology allows for higher quality products with lower cost. However, I am lacking sufficient funds to get production started on a large scale. These grant funds would allow me to purchase equipment and supplies needed to get enough products created to begin targeting my first market within three months. Without this grant money, my ability to purchase these materials will delay large-scale product creation for at least a year. This delay will in turn give other companies in the industry time to develop similar products and services (there are currently no companies creating products using our lighting techniques).

If Idea Cafe's Grant helps your biz reach greater success, how will you "pay it forward" to help others in some way?
From the beginning, my goal in starting this company has been to help people out of work or underemployed. From friends to family to neighbors to strangers, I want to provide opportunities that help others attain a higher quality of life. For those with no work experience, I plan to create entry level and internship positions that teach valuable skills to these employees in an innovative and creative field. I hope to inspire young entrepreneurs while providing much needed real world experience to them. When my company is able to expand, I also hope to fill a much needed gap in relocating displaced workers to a new field with growth opportunities.
