Finding a Message in a Bottle -- or Wherever Else You Lost It
What's that? You say you can't find that important email message? The one that outlined those crucial first steps for your next important project? "Gone forever," you wail, envisioning your next job modeling nude for art classes at the local college.
Don't despair. Eudora, Email Goddess, has blessed us mere mortals with a "find" feature that's quick and painless to use. Like magic, what once was lost now is found.
Simply click on the Edit feature, and then on Find. Lo and behold, you must click on Find again. (For those of you who like shortcuts, Ctrl+F will get you there twice as fast.) Plug in a keyword, preferably something unique to the topic of your lost missive. Otherwise, you'll end up going through 25 messages before you get to the one you want.
Eudora will search an entire email -- header through body -- and display the first chronological email that contains your keyword. Ctrl+; will allow you to quickly scroll from one message to the next. Once you've exhausted your search in one mailbox, you can go on to another by clicking on Mailbox. Eudora, goddess that she is, will automatically search each mailbox until another match is found.
Still no luck? Try another keyword, or perhaps click on the Match Case option. If you remember an instruction coming to you in all CAPS, match case will find that, and only that, set of instructions. Or, if you think you may have moved too quickly the first time around, Find Again (Ctrl+G) will start you back where you done begun.
Lost no more. This nifty trick will save you time, money -- and keep the cyber goddesses happy.
