"thoughts on choosing business name?"

hey all,

i'm starting a business, and have several ideas for the name brainstormed out. problem is, i'm finding something wrong with each one, and feel like i'll continue to find something wrong, because i'm afraid to "lock-in" with one, fearing i'll think of a more effective name after i incorporate.

maybe i'm just crazy/paranoid, but anyone else share some of these thoughts? if so, how do you cope with them? I'd like to pick the name, and focus on the more important things, like execution!

1) Make a list of all the possible names.
2) Give yourself a deadline on deciding the final name.
3) Run the list by friends, business associates and get their feedback.
4) Narrow it down to the top 3 to 5 favorites.
5) Check to see which name is "most available" with both your secy. of state (if you choose to incorporate or LLC) AND as a domain name.
6) Also consider the name that is the easiest to communicate in writing and verbally. InterTelMediaLogix may sound great, but think about having to spell that over the phone and explain the capitalization, etc.

Then put it all aside for awhile (if you still have time) and let your subconscious brain work on it for a while. Sometimes NOT thinking about it lets your relax and the best idea rise to the top.
