I just switched to Inmotion Hosting after 2 years with Yahoo. I switched for better service, and so far (1 month later)I have had no problems with Inmotion. Here is a link to help you decide, http://webhostinggeeks.com/
I visited forums, and read reviews before I picked this service, so you're on the right track. I also use Freewebs.com for my other 2 sites, they have premade templates, and it is cheap, $20 a year.

$50 a month for a 5 page website... that you have to build with their templates. It's just my opinion, but that will look like a template built website that costs you way too much money per month.
Again, it's just me... but I would suggest finding someone who is jsut starting out with websites (if you are trying to save a buck) and having them build you a site that they can upload to GoDaddy for you... for which you will pay GoDaddy about $8 to $10 per month.
Don't try to cut corners on the site. Have a very nice site done from scratch, with the look that you want... and you will be happier in the ling run.
You can trade for the web design, you can negociate the price.. but whatever you do to have someone build it for you... it will be much better for the high-end look that you want, then if you were to go with the templates and high mointhly fee.
Good luck!

I have to agrew with Jeff; template websites look like templates.
They're an ok place to start. I use a template based-shopping cart. Now granted, it's fully customizeable, and over time, it will look less and less like a "template", but I do not believe that this deters my customers.
But then I sell hot sauce... What my customers want (and I think this translates well to all web-based business), is ease of use and security.
Some of the things that we've been focusing on improving are SEO and ease of use on our site... We've gotten better at the SEO, although, it's always a work in progress, but we've got a ton of work to do on our ease of use...
As Jeff suggested, I traded a long-term equity ownership deal in our company for technical support so that no matter what I wanted to do on our website, I would have technical backup and it wouldn't cost me a lot. I currently pay $80 a month, but that's for two websites and free any time support; code writing, whatever I need.
I think we got a great deal... others will think it's expensive... But what makes it a great deal, is that I believe it's a great deal. IOW, shop around. You're better off waiting 2 weeks to a month to launch your website and be happy with it, than launching too early and hating it until your contract ends.

Agreed. You say you want a classy, upscale site - that can't be done with an out-of-the-box solution. You can find decent designers cheaply if you look around (perhaps on getafreelancer.com though you may hit some language barriers there).
Good luck !!!

Of course, I agree with much of the above. You will get what you pay for. And you will be doing much of the work yourself and most people get frustrated because they are limited on what they can create according to the template they bought. My suggestion is to do it right the first time and pay a professional to design for you. NB: GoDaddy is notorious for being a major headache for small business owners.

No way! Don't do that!
There are so many hosts out there for way less than that. I am a freelance website designer, and (I don't get anything for my recommendation), but I suggest Bluehost.com.
$107 for the year, and in laymen's terms, you get unlimited everything.
Once you have a host, you can install a Content Management System like Wordpress or Drupal, and choose a theme to have a MORE customizable, larger site than you would with a 5-page template. You might know wordpress as a blogging platform, but it's so much more than that. Check out http://www.stopcrime.org, http://www.nemealsonwheels.org, or http://www.buckeyeboysbbq.com for examples of some wordpress sites. Then take a look at www.wordpress.org.
Bluehost will install it automatically. If you are interested in this but need help, I can help set you up, but PLEASE don't spend $49!! a month for a measley 5 page template when you could have SOOO much more!

Of course it also depends on what you have in your budget to have someone make you "a classy upscale website". I have no affiliation with them whatsoever but I discovered a company called BF Enterprises. Beautiful website designs and affordable for most small business owners. I agree with the last few posts recommending a more professional look. That sounds like way too much money for a template. You should try ready-made websites, which is a huge step up from templates. You really should look at the WordPress platform. I have been building them for clients that use a lot of images to market themselves. Clients love pictures. The gallery plug ins and the expanded images in the blog are killer. The added bonus with WP is that they are built to be semantically compatible with all the search engines. So from day one they search very well. Second, once they are installed, they are an incredibly easy system for the client to manage and update on there own.
As for hosting, we recommend Bluehost. They are great to work with and at $6.95 a month a bargain too.

Hello,
I would advise you to look around a little more before you sign up with Go Daddy. I think that $49.00 a month for a 5 page site is a bit much. If you hire a web designer and spend more money upfront for a flexible web design, you will save money by just paying hosting every month in the long run. Also, with GoDaddy, if you are unhappy with your site, you will need to re-build it should you move to another web host.
A web site for your business is an investment. Look for a web designer who can design a site for you with a Content Management System. This will enable you to update the site yourself, and give you the flexibility of moving the site to another host if you need to. Hiring a good designer initially will save you time and money in the long run.

I got a kick out of following the responses to your question and was wondering if it was possible that you were with GoDaddy and were testing feedback on your possible market... Obviously you're not, but the marketing information in this thread is invaluable to GoDaddy, hopefully someone over there will see it and they can work on getting their name recommended rather than shot down in flames.
Did you decide what you are going to do yet???
