"Grant Money - How to obtain it and where?"

I am starting a business involving technology in the classroom and I was wondering who I could approach about funding and how? I have put together a brief description of the business plan so people will have a better idea of what I'm hoping to accomplish.

Former history teacher Billy Gray is starting an educational organization known as ?One Man, One Journey? with the intent to better educate the students of America. The way in which he proposes to do this is to bring the world directly to the classroom. This will be possible by creating an interactive and educational website that students around the world can utilize to learn about significant historical, geographical, social, and cultural events and ideas.

Billy will be traversing various parts of the world by bicycle to promote environmental concerns while educating the youth of America. Followers will be able to view photographs, videos, interviews, and other relevant information on the website. There will be opportunities for students to participate in live interviews with Billy and his team to learn more about his adventures and the places he has traveled. Potential domestic sites could be the Statue of Liberty, the Capitol Building, Mount Rushmore, and the Battle of Little Bighorn. International locations might be Machu Picchu, Galapagos Islands, Great Wall of China, and the Coliseum in Rome, including many, many more.

In order to successfully create this program we will need an efficient website that has the capability of doing what is necessary, such as posting live video feeds, photographs, and relevant educational information. It will also be necessary to have the appropriate equipment, for example, video cameras, computers, tripods, and storage devices for the media content. Beyond technology, the team will need funds for traveling to the destinations, this will mostly include biking, but some locations will need more advanced transportation methods. The majority of these expenses will be covered by the team themselves, but some items are out of the current budget that is affordable.

The objective of this endeavor is to create an interactive, interesting, and educational experience for all those involved. The modern classroom needs to utilize all of the resources that the world has to offer, including the benefits of technology. To see places all around the world could help to bridge the culture gap that we currently see. This project would bring the world directly to the classroom. Nothing is more interesting to today?s students than hands-on activities. To see firsthand sites they have only read about would be more effective in the teaching process. The proposed program could be used by multiple subject areas, including history, geography, biology, and government, and quite possibly many more.

One Man, One Journey

"There is no secret ingredient."
