Hello All,

I would like to start a transportation company with a few vans or sedans, maybe for airport trips. I'm open to anything helpful. I can see using small shuttle buses in the future or even to start out. I have no idea where to start. I know I should pick a name, of which I have two choices. I need to know how or where to register or sign up for my name, licenses and limits to the services I can provide. There doesn't seem to be a small business start-up book or guide for a shuttle or van service, well at least not that I have found. Please help.

You should probably start with your states Department of Transportation. Generally it's this agency that sets the rules and regulations that you'll be governed by. I'm sure they require a chauffers license of some type, and there will probably be bonding and insurance requirements. They should be able to steer you to the other departments and licensing agencies you'll need to talk to.
