"coffee bar"

I want to add a coffee bar to my existing art gallery. I will sell only coffee and not fancy latte drinks. Does this sound like a viable idea?

Anything can be a viable idea. You just need to do the research. Talk to your gallery customers. See if that is a service they would be interested in. You may find that they would like more than just a cup of coffee --- maybe a cappuccino or espresso or even a cup of hot tea.

Ask yourself what your basis for adding this service to your gallery is. Is it to keep your visitors there longer? Is it to add another revenue stream to your gallery?

Talk to your local SBDC, they can definitely help!

Good Luck!

I agree with Lisa. Talk to your gallery customers. Find out what would get them to come back and refer your gallery to their friends and colleagues. You need to separate yourself from your competition. Visit other Art Gallery's as a customer. How does what your competition is doing or not doing impact your experience in their gallery? If you were a true customer of your competitors gallery, would you come back? If so, what enticed you to say yes? If not, why?

I think it sounds like a really viable plan, but like the others have mentioned - you really need some input from your current customers.

If I was a customer, I'm sure I'd love the option of grabbing a cup of coffee while I viewed the artwork. Having a few different options - like tea or hot chocolate as well - would probably work better than only providing coffee.

I'll be curious to see how this goes for you.
Take care,
Christina
