http://www.time4uwear.com Simply print the Watch Size Guide and cut out the ruler along the lines. Beginning with the 0cm/0in side, wrap the ruler around your wrist and mark the meeting point. Loosen and tighten to the desired fit. It is important to understand that while we can mostly get the measurement to a comfortable fit, a small tolerance must be allowed for steel bracelet watches. In case a bracelet cannot be sized to your exact measurement we will size to the next size above the provided measurement. Automatic Watches: The watch is fastened to a rotating winder head, mimicking a wrist¡¯s movement. Most winders today feature a cushion to which the watch is strapped, the cushion then fits snugly into a motorized turning canister. There are other methods, such as the windmill design winder which features a C shaped metal tension spring to which the watch gets strapped.Manual Winding Watches: As far as we are aware the only quality winder for a manual winding watch would be the Sempre Winder by Orbita Corporation. The watch is mounted on a pod and a small spring-loaded claw gently clamps around the crown. The claw grips the crown, gently and slowly turning the crown winding the watch. A microprocessor with a highly sensitive sensor feels the tension increasing as the mainspring tightens, and stopping as the watch approaches a fully wound state.A mechanical wristwatch is comprised of small gears, miniature screws and paper-thin springs - as with any mechanical instruments that have constantly moving parts, a mechanical watch requires periodic maintenance. If a watch suddenly begins running extremely fast (20+ seconds per day to hours fast per day) it is usually an indication that the hairspring coils are magnetized, causing the coils to stick together. This shortens the rotation of the balance wheel and increases the beat rate extremely. Correcting this is one of the simplest tasks for a watch maker. The watch need not be opened it is passed through a demagnetizing machine and is ready to go again. Magnetism can also cause a watch to stop or run slow; however, generally the watch will run fast.

http://watchgetluxury.com A watch is wound via its crown, usually clockwise. Keep the crown in its pushed-in position and wind the crown clockwise. If your watch has a screw-down crown, you first need to unscrew the crown before winding.Another way to keep your automatic watch fully wound is by using a winder. A watch winder is a device that you mount your watch on for times when you are not wearing it. A winder moves the watch around mimicking the movements of a wrist. This is especially convenient if you own more than one automatic watch or have a watch with a high complication such as a perpetual calendar which is more complicated and takes extra time to set.A watch rated as Water Resistant may come in contact with water to a predetermined extent. Most watches are classified by the degree until which depth of immersion is safe. It is important to remember that a water resistant rating is based upon optimum conditions in a laboratory. Real life experience and aging of the gaskets will effectively decrease the manufacturer's specifications of water resistance over time. Water coming in contact with the movement is the worst scenario that can happen to a watch. Thus, we strongly suggest that you always work well within the parameters of the manufacturer's recommendations and have your watch tested at least once a year. Any competent watchmaker has the necessary equipment to test water resistance.

http://www.time4uwear.com Case Back: This refers to how the case back is attached to the watch. Snap-on case backs are sealed by pressure and are considered the least water resistant. The slightest nick in a case or deformity in a gasket (which will happen over time) will allow water to penetrate the case. Generally, these watches will have a water resistance of 30m/99ft maximum - which allows for contact with water but not immersion.Case-backs attached with screws would be the second level of water resistance. Having the case back attached with screws allows for a much tighter seal than a snap-on case back, however a deformity in the gasket will still allow water to penetrate. Generally, these watches will have a water resistance of 100m/330ft maximum - which allows for light swimming and immersion in a pool.Screw-in case backs are threaded and screwed into the actual case. This creates a double seal, using both the threading and the gasket as a seal. Generally, (although not as a rule) diving watches with water resistant ratings greater than 100m/330ft will have this type of case back.Crown: the single most important factor to ensuring water resistance. The weakest part of a watch for water to penetrate is the crown-stem hole. The stem of the crown is attached to the movement through a hole in the case edge. As the crown is constantly moved to different positions, wound and turned to correct the time, the gasket is constantly compressed, chafed and stressed. The slightest variation in the shape of the gasket or if the crown is not pushed all the way in will allow water to penetrate the watch through the stem hole.

http://www.watchgetluxury.com All watches require a source of energy to power the watch. Most prestigious watches are powered by a mechanical movement. The power source of a mechanical movement is its mainspring. The mainspring is a tightly coiled spring nestled in a miniature enclosure called the barrel. In order for the watch to work the mainspring needs to be wound. There is a common misconception that an automatic watch never needs to be wound. It's a mistake to think that a watch that has wound down or that is close to the end of its power reserve just needs to be worn for a while to wind itself up. While this may give you just enough power to keep the watch running in the here and now, and it may even run for a little while afterwards when it's not worn, it may not have had the chance to fully wind the mainspring and you'll experience a shorter power reserve, once the watch is removed from your wrist.Once you have manually wound and set a watch it is now ready for use and if you wear the watch daily, an active wrist should be enough to keep the watch fully wound¡even if you remove the watch overnight. However, we do advise to fully wind the watch manually if it hasn¡¯t been worn for most of its power reserve duration.People who are not very active like those who sit at a computer for many hours a day don't always move their wrists enough to fully wind a watch in which case they may need to give it a boost every so often by winding the crown about 30 -40 times.
