I have an opportunity to open a business next to a movie theater. I thought a business that caters to kids and adults might be good in that location. I'm thinking a nice place to hang out with maybe a food concession, ice cream, healthy vending machines and games for the younger kids and toddlers. I of course want to be different from the typical arcade place where kids just loiter and spend no money at all. I'm sure it can be better than that, maybe offer internet access, maybe a good coffee spot so the parents can have a place to wait while their kids play on the games. I know nothing about the arcade business, but if I find out that it's profitable, than maybe it's worth learning more. Does anyone know about this type of business and if it is in deed profitable. Thanks in advance!

From what I know and I haven't ever actually been in the business, it can be very profitable but the start up costs are very high and you have to have a lot of traffic in order for it to work. That said, right by a movie theatre might work, however, the movie theatre itself will probably have food and arcade games so will zoning rules let you be by the movie theatre? That is something else to consider.
