"Computer consultant - vertical markets"

Hello everybody...first all thanks for anybody who offers assistance with this.

I've been in the IT industry (Corporate) for a long time now and have vast experience as well as contacts in the Atlanta market specifically and the SouthEast as well.

I'm thinking of starting a computer consulting business but I've seen so many of them...there are thousands...that I realize I must specialize to be successful. I'm thinking about entering a vertical market such as "Medical" or "Dental" or "Legal" and offering services/consultation/etc to one of these specifically. A few questions:

1. Does anybody have experience with this?
2. Any thoughts as to what, specifically, a doctors office...or dental office...or legal office...would be looking for? I'm thinking along the lines of data backup/restore/migration, security consultations, etc, etc.
3. I've not seen too many companies doing this....could this be because it's a bad idea or because it just hasn't been tried too much?
4. I'm considering a survey approach to get ideas from several offices quickly. I'm not sure the doctors will take the time to do the survey though, so I'd like to present it to them personally. It'll take some leg work but I think the information collected would be well worth it.
5. Lastly, anybody in the Atlanta market that might be interested in looking into this with me, let me know!!

Thanks!
