"million dollar idea??"

Would any business owner be interested in t-shirts with their advertisments on them utilized the same as flyers, but on a smaller scale? My idea is simple and complicated because of the quantity ratio of paper flyers to flyer tees. I think if the financial part can be manipulated, this could be a successful idea. any opinions???

Those of us in the promotional advertising industry know businesses buy T-shirts with their name and logo on them.

But to use them as flyers?????

Might as well ask someone if they can name more than two of the sponsors on the back of their fun run or 10K shirts. For one, you can only read the back of someone else's shirt. Second, unless you have a connection to one or two of the sponsors, you won't recall the other sponsor's ads a week after the event.

One on one advertising has worked quite well with T-shirts. Turning them into a flyer, co-op billboard, or other medium won't get the results for the 12 or 20 advertisers that it can deliver to the single advertiser.

Co-op advertising has been done of phone book covers, stadium seat cusions, restaraunt placemats, coffee mugs, and magnetic memo boards that I know, and I'm sure other products have been used to do co-op advertising. But I just don't see a lot of prospects for turning T-shirts into flyers with co-op advertising outside the sponsorship listings for events.

In addition to those in my industry, you'll also be in competition with all those T-shirt shops across the country who focus on selling volume orders to business and industry.

Just don't see a lot of prospects for T-shirts as advertising flyers.

Sounds like a great idea but it might be more cost effective for a business to use flyers....Hits more customers faster than them seeing your shirt...

While tee shirt flyers sounds like a cool, novel idea...it just wouldn't get enough exposure. A single person (or a few people) walking around in a tee shirt can only go so far. Only a limited number of people would see, much less actually READ and remember, the advertising. Unless the person wearing the tee shirt is also passing out flyers or other give aways, the "customer" viewing the tee shirt would have nothing to take away. They need to be able to see it again and again for it to "stick".

Keep brainstorming though. You may hit on something else that is more doable.

Sounds like a great idea...to elaborte on it with a totally new idea. Go to any car dealership...if you have a pretty good car (and the make they indorse) propose to them to paint/sign (like radio stations pizza delevery cars etc. do) for 3 months of you driving around advertising them...ask for approx. $3500.00 plus gas...see what they say ...it worked for a friend of mine for a while. just a idea:-)

It's a million dollar idea, all right.

We've been pricing ad-specialty t-shirts for our staff to wear during shows and based on the price per unit we've been being quoted, you couldn't pay me to consider this as an advertising cost giveaway.

At a maximum of $1-$2 per unit, I might consider replacing the flyer with an ad specialty of some sort, but at the prices I've seen for the custom t-shirts... Never.

I hope this helps.

Tina,

You haven't priced them with me. I know we can't get down to the <$2 price to use as flyers, but we will help you stretch those $$$ to get more for your money.

And not just on T-shirts.
