I want to open up a business(indoor playground for kids) but my husband wont agree to it until i can get him statistics and hard facts that the business has a chance. How can I do this?He also wants to know what the electric bill would be a month. How do I find this out? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You will likely find the information you want at zapdata.com. Use their industry report by SIC (Standard Industrial Code) number and you'll get all kinds of usefule information, i.e. annual revenues, average sales, average number of employees, etc., by nation, state, county etc.

Hop ethis helps

I hate to say your hubby is right (cause I hate saying it to my own), but he is. You definately don't want to start any kind of business that is going to cost a lot of money up front and to keep running until you have a written plan, including all the specs of all the nooks and crannies. We have one business that is a local thing and I tell ya it can get difficult (that is why now we do a different business on the side that cost almost nothing and we didn't have to make such grand plans). Anyways call around and get ideas of how much things will run and remember up keep and costs if many kids don't show (can you keep it running). How many kids will have to come to break even in a month? Keep writing then you can present it too him or find out before it's too late that it wouldn't be great money for the hours put in.
Good Luck!

Well fellow gemini, your husband is on the right track wanting cold hard facts. Can't blame him for not wanting to throw money into something you know nothing about. So as has been suggested, a business plan is your first order of business.

Within the business plan you will include all of your start up costs and your monthly ongoing costs. Remember you will have to account for rent, equipment costs (play equipment, office equipment, point of sale equipment), build out costs (remodeling), insurance, advertising, utilities, payroll, taxes, professional fees, permits, etc. As you can see, those costs add up quickly.

You will need to do a marketing plan, and a comparision study of similar businesses. You will need to provide background information on yourself.

There is much research do be done prior to opening your doors.

See below for more info and help.
