2557, Start up profit share
Posted by laylabee, Tue May-02-17 01:10 PM
hello all- this is my first post!

i recently started a partnership with someone. because i founded the 'business,' we agreed to split the profits 60/40, but keep the expenses 50/50. i tried splitting up the responsibility evenly, but eventually it seemed like i was doing 70%. in the last month, she decided she didnt have time to carry on as my partner.

now i'm by myself, and searching for another partner. however, a potential one that i have talked to said she wants 50/50 of the profits. i dont think that would be fair though, since i basically created the platform to make the profit for both of us in the first place. what are your thoughts and do you think it would/would not be wise to split the profits 50/50?

i'm running a clothing store, but I just think a partner would be easier, because we could split expenses, he/she might provide advice(two heads better than one), I also would have to take pictures of people for this, and my partner would help with taking pictures, as well as finding model's who would be willing to take the pictures.
also, my partner would ideally be particularly better than me on getting our business exposure, and they would have more networking expertise and could reach out to others, while i do the financial part and gaining a social media audience, or customers (our business is ran from Instagram)
i told my potential partner we would split it 60/40, because no good partnership can be 50/50, but she argues that she would deserve 50%, since she is paying 50%

-all replies welcome.
