1867, why reinvent the wheel
Posted by A.G., Tue Aug-11-09 05:11 AM
I want to start a non-profit in the area to help teens. I found an organization that is already doing what i want to do. I contacted them and asked if they could be a resource for me to start up and they agreed. My question is ho wmuch information should I request.

Am I going to far to ask for their business plan if they have one? I know they are 501c3. Any guidelines on how to make the most of this relationship without getting on these people's nerves?

I agree with BizResearcher, you just have to wait and see how willing she is to help.

If they offered, you should ask for everything you can. On the other hand, they may already have a lot of information available in pamphlets or a website. So, you should be sure to ask for all of this information which, I am sure they would be willing to provide, since it is already prepared.

Have you considered partnering with this organization? That is, you could be their "arm" in AL? They may be much more willing to work with you if you make this kind of arrangement.

Good luck!!! :)
