I would expect to pay quite a bit more for web design services. You can find someone to create a website for $200-$600, but if you want to make a lasting investment, and a high quality website, you'll need a higher quality web designer. I personally would expect to pay at least $1000 for a simple website, and higher with more complexity. With web designers you truly do get what you pay for.
