I curently have a merchant account under a business that I am changing the name of. Hoe do I go about changing my merchant accounts or do I have to apply for a new one?

I'm not sure where you are, but here, it's a simple matter of registering the new name with the registrar then giving a copy of that to the bank.
If it's a different company, do yourself a favour and open a new account.
