With the influence of Black culture which also includes influences more native such as Cajun and Boudin, on American cuisine I still always consider it to be "Soul" food. First for the love and passion that goes into the food and secondly the fact it is comforting, great tasting, fill you up and make you happy food! It is literally food for the "Soul".
