553, The Best Way to Use Testimonials?
Posted by acmedata, Thu Jun-21-07 01:14 AM
I've received a couple of really great testimonials recently, and I want to use them as best I can.

Anybody got any ideas?

Thanks!

I would begin by posting them on your website.

I agree with the above poster. Using them on your website is a great way to start.

http://www.smallbusinesscopywriter.com/ (no need to read through the copy, just note the how the testimonials are used)

This is the website I have set up with my business partner and we have been told many times over that the testimonials are what did it for our on the fence customers. Having them posted directly in plain site is also something I would advise. This is a great way to build trust with potential customers, as they are much more likely to believe you are good to do business with if they hear it from past customers rather than from you yourself.

Also, if you do any direct marketing (copywriting/sales letters), testimonials can be added in a similar manner in your copy.

Hope this helps,
Curtis

Posting on your website is a must! But see if you can get the permission of the person who wrote the testimonial to use their picture. It makes it more real to the reader. Checkout our website...we did the same thing and included a description of the services we performed for the company, then posted the testimonial. www.zerogcreative.com

Great idea on the pics Jen...

I think I will try that on our site. (Once I actually get our testimonials up, that is!)

Just tagging along to what the other posters said...

I have seen website testimonials done in two ways that caught my attention:

1) a banner ad type box - with a different testimonial being shown per page as the user navigates site; very subtle and affirming

2) a "What Our Clients Say about Us"-type page. Where all comments are listed one after, sometimes in alternating fonts or colors for easier scanning/reading; all on one page packs a bigger punch.

An idea to solicit customer comments: When you bill them, somewhere on the detachable portion of your invoice, ask for their feedback with a comment box, and a request to use that information/ testimonial.
