450, Working on a mail out brochure
Posted by allie, Sat May-12-07 02:10 PM
Hi,
I'm looking for some information on designing a mail out brochure. I am going to write a letter and insert the brochures to potential commercial customers. I know that it's important to be well done and professionally. I'm not too concerned about the designing part of it. I'm just not sure how to grab the attention of the reader and to have them actually stop and read it.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Have you already completed this project? If not, let me know, and will provide advice.

If you're going to do a mailout, it is cheaper to do a postcard and the USPS (I think --- Canada post does) gives special rates for postcards.

One word: HEADLINE

What grabs peoples attention the most? A well written headline.

When you go to the store and see the tabloids, what makes you stop and look at them? The random picture of Celebrity A or the headlines that usually go something like this: Is it splitsville for Celebrity A and Celebrity B?, or: Ladies: The top ten things you need to do this summer to shave off the pounds and land the hunk you've been dreaming of.

If you want people to read, you have to get their attention. We are bombarded by so many ads in magazines and such, that often when we just see a picture, we'll skip over it. However, we're so conditioned from reading newspapers, books, etc that when we see text we often can't help but read it. Take the tabloids for example, you probably don't buy them, but are you guilty of often reading the headlines?...I know I am...

And that's why they're there....they work!

I don't know what you're business is, but I would start thinking of some headlines that you could use to grab people's attention. If you would like some examples of proven headlines that you can use, email me at curtis@smallbusinesscopywriter.com, and visit our site www.smallbusinesscopywriter.com to see how we use text to bring in customers.

All the best,
