Market research??

I have an idea, and I am working on the business plan for it, an on-line performance auto parts store, aimed at a specific niche in the motor sport world. Since I am new to this whole market research deal, I need a little help getting pointed in the right direction. Where would I look to find this info, such as: people involved in the niche, Dollars spent, growth trends, etc.
