1038, How to market to high end hotels spa
Posted by hanna, Mon May-19-08 11:14 AM
Hi Everyone,

I recently started my own company manufacturing bath products i am looking to reach high end hotel chains to sell our product in their spas. I was wondering if anyone can give me ideas on how to land our products in high end hotels.

Thanks,

Hanna

Your first task is to find out who the buyer is for the hotel. You might want to start with the smaller chains or individual owners, ie, bed & breakfasts. They can tell you how to compete for their contract and how often they renew their orders. Let them know that you would like to compete, provide them with samples and price list and then follow up when it is time.

Very often the larger chains will hold a sort of trade fair where all of the buyers go to see the products that the chain has chosen for them to choose from (these are fun). They typically will hold these once per year, and if you are in, you're in, but if you miss it... well... sorry bubba, but maybe next year... A contact management system will help you a great deal in following up on the contacts; and I recommend using one.

Good luck with it...

Hi Tina,

Thank you for your response. How can I get my products into such trade fairs. How does the chain select the products? How do I get more info about these trade fairs?

Thanks,

Hanna

BizResearcher is right, Hanna. Simply contact the Hotels themselves and ask who is in charge of their purchasing of such supplies... It might take some work, but you'll find your way to the right person eventually. Just be persistent.

Why not start locally and walk into the spa, ask to speak to the manager and give them a sample -- not a full one -- make some smaller versions.

Tell them that you live in the area and have started a company and you'd like their opinion of the product. Then call them a week or so later.

Also ask who the buyer is for the hotel, too.

Sometimes the spa is actually separate from the hotel, other times is part of it. This way you get them both.
