I am trying to do a similar thing. I am trying to raise funds for a store front office for 6 months. So this is what I am doing.... (numbers are just an example for ease of explaining)

I created a financial plan (basically a business plan that is heavy on the financials)

I took the $500 I need for 6 months each so $3000 total.

I wrote letters to family, friends and colleagues asking them for a supportive contribution. They invest any amount of money between $100 and $3000. At the end of 5 years if I am successful and making a profit they would recieve 100% of their investiment back plus a percentage of the profits for the following 20 years (year 5 through 35) at a rate of 1% per $100. However the percentage total may not exceed 10 times your investment in a year.

It may seem confusing but I have it laid out in charts and grids in excel for ease to understand.
